The name Pisconeri carries a story shaped by time, tradition, and artistic integrity. It’s one of the original Italian spellings of the family name, dating back to the late 1800s and early 1900s, when relatives immigrated to the United States. Over generations, the name evolved, as families adapted to their new environment, spellings like Pisconeri, Piscioneri, and eventually Pishnery emerged.
In honoring that legacy, Tony and Judith chose Pisconeri as the name of their studio. Rather than using their personal surnames or a generic business moniker, they embraced the rich Italian roots of their family name, a quiet nod to history and heritage that guides their creative work today.
You’ll notice the fleur-de-lis woven into our studio identity—a stylized lily that has adorned European heraldry, emblems, and architecture for centuries. Its origins span the royal courts of France and noble families of Italy, but its symbolism goes deeper than decor. Historically, the three petals have represented the medieval societal pillars: those who worked, those who fought, and those who prayed. In Florence, Italy, where Judith and Tony find creative inspiration, the Florentine lily variation features stamens between the petals and symbolizes art, resilience, and civic pride.
For Pisconeri Studio, the fleur-de-lis embodies timeless elegance and a reverence for craft. It’s not just a design element, it’s a reflection of the studio’s dedication to intentional storytelling, meaningful artistry, and cultural awareness.
It is also the ancient emblem of the city of Florence, and of the Swiss municipality of Schlieren.
In Florentine fleurs-de-lis, the stamens are always posed between the petals. This heraldic charge is often known as the Florentine lily to distinguish it from the conventional design. It is an emblem of the city.
Elsewhere in Italy, fleurs-de-lis have been used for some papal crowns and coats of arms, Farnese, Dukes of Parma, and by some doges of Venice.
From professional photography and DAM consulting to creative strategy and immersive workshops, Judith brings many years of experience empowering artists and organizations to elevate their visual impact.
Chef Tony complements the studio’s vision with hands-on cooking classes and culinary experiences that celebrate flavor, technique, and community. Together, they offer dynamic workshops, both visual and culinary, that inspire learning, connection, and creative growth.
