An authentic Italian experience, really immerse yourself in Italy. From Medievil to Rennaisance, from city to quaint village and picturesque countryside. Italy provides a wealth of visual inspiration that inspired the Renaissance masters like Da Vinci and Michelangelo and can now inspire you.

The region of Umbria in Italy holds vast photographic opportunities for the color and BW photographer. It is an area to savour for its rich history, delightful cuisine, wealth of art treasures, historic sites, shopping diversity and photographic inspiration.

Explore the historic sites, capture the ambiance of the streets and cafes, discover the beauty of interesting sites around the region, which can include: Orvieto, Civita di Bagnoregio, Cortona, Montelpulciano, and many place in-between. You will explore and photograph in a small group with the instructor close by.

This marvelous opportunity to photograph the Umbria region (think of it as an almost untouched Tuscany) of Italy with other photographers. This workshop will be based in the Umbria countryside. (actual locations vary each season.)

5 to 6 days of photography in exciting, historic, photogenic Umbria & southern Tuscany region of Italy. The workshop will be based in the medieval village of Paciano.

Wear your walking shoes, bring your camera and plenty of media and be prepared to have fun and advance your photographic techniques. Classes and instruction will take place in the cafes, at breakfast, on location and anywhere and everywhere.

A laptop computer with the latest version of Lightroom & an extra external harddrive (1-2TBs) are recommended . Additional instruction in Lightroom and post-processing will be offered.

Photography information packet/workbook of creative techniques and technical skills is provided.

Typical Itinerary
Sunday afternoon- Arrive Paciano, Italy

• Chiusi train station, we will pick you up there.
                  Easy trip from Rome or Florence - approx $25 each way.
• Private car service from Rome or Florence is available at an extra charge
  • - approx $200 each way.
  • Car service can be shared by 2 to 6 persons.
• Check into accommodations/B&B, take a nap, freshen up and get ready to photograph.
• Group dinner & introductions

Monday - Friday

• Field trips through Umbria & Southern Tuscany (Italy), the architecture, the villages,
• the abbeys & churches, the markets & shopping, the gardens, the historic sites
• and so much more.
• Travel itinerary is flexible and subject to change throughout the workshop to take
                advantage of special events, student interests, and unique opportunities.
• We will travel as a group (transportation included) via mini-van to sites throughout the area.

Thursday or Friday evening, Celebration Dinner and wrap-up of class

Friday or Saturday, class ends, depart for home or others areas in Italy or Europe. (Transportation provided to Chiusi train station).

Accommodations costs: 3 star B&B/house/hotel in/near Paciano, Italy (included in workshop fee).

Airfare is on your own, either Rome or Florence, Italy is the closest airport  (approx. $800 to $1600 RT)

• Then a train to Chiusi - approx $20 to $25 each way to/from Florence or Rome)
• We will pick you up at the train station on Sunday
• or car service to Paciano area (we can help arrange this – extra charge applies approx. $200
                 one way, possible to meet up with other students at the airport and split the cost).
